Tsunami Proof
Tsunami hight is low at offshore location where water depth is deep enough. In addition, floating body is not fixed in sea ground and easily ride away big wave.
Unlimited Heatsink
The biggest problem with nuclear reactors is that they continue to generate a huge amount of decay heat for a long time even after shut down. Sea water can be stable and unlimited heatsink.
No Urgent Evacuation
OFNP is located far away from residential area (out of Urgent Protection action planning Zone) and no urgent evacuation is necessary.

IAEA 1st Symposium of Offshore Nuclear Power Plant
Recently, OFNP is attracting world-wide attention. IAEA held 1st Symposium on November 23rd, 2023.
Takafumi Anegawa was a leader of OFNP project in COCN since 2020 to 2022. He led nuclear reform activity in TEPCO as Chief Nuclear Officer after Fukushima-Daiichi NPP accident. He is also a president of CHAdeMO association that is one of the most popular standards for EV fast charging in the world.
